Hi, I’m Julia.
When I was ten, my family and I moved to the Triangle as part of a greater migration of Yankees to the suburbs of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. As an angsty adolescent, I spent a lot of time whining about how there was nothing to do here.
In the last few years, that’s changed. A lot.
When I hit my twenties, the population of the Triangle exploded. That’s brought its benefits (fun things to do and new businesses!) and its challenges (gentrification, and what is equality in the “y’all means all” era going to look like?)
As my friends and I are coming of age and deciding who we want to be, so is the Triangle. While Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill are famous for STEM development and for being a great home for young families, that’s not where most of the people I know land.
The other side of the Triangle – the blossoming art and music scenes, the fun-lovers, the culture vultures – that side is alive and well. This blog is dedicated to those of us looking for a good time and determining how to make our mark here. The Triangle Guide is here to chart the alternative RDU. Let’s do this.
